Best Vet Contest Continues to Honor Top Doctors
Sometimes we forget how much we rely on our family doctor and our pets’ doctor. Just like our family doctors, veterinarians make a difference every day for the pets we love. Last year, hundreds of pet owners from around the nation sent heartwarming nominations for the third annual Thank Your Vet for a Healthy Pet® contest, co-sponsored by Morris Animal Foundation, Hill’s Pet Nutrition and Dog Fancy, Cat Fancy and Veterinary Practice News magazines.
Dr. Kirk Weicht, owner of Browntail Animal Hospital in Bedford, Texas, took the top national prize and the southwest regional award. His nominator, Gina DeGennaro, says Dr. Weicht is the heartbeat of his clinic. “I’ve worked with him for the past 10 years and have learned a lot from him,” says DeGennaro. “He is an amazing man, and he really goes above and beyond for his clients.”
The four other regional winners were:
- * Dr. Amara Estrada, University of Florida Veterinary
Medical Center in Gainesville, Florida, for the Southeast - * Dr. Patrick Hourigan, Richmond Veterinary Clinic in Richmond, Illinois, for the Midwest
- * Dr. Kristin Quisenberry, Hidden Valley Animal Clinic in McMurray, Pennsylvania, for the Northeast
- * Dr. J. Robert Yack, Jackson Creek Veterinary Clinic in Jackson, California, for the West
